Another weekend of scintillating football all around the top five European leagues with top notch performance from different players.
The game of the week was in the EPL which happened to be the North London derby (Tottenham vs Arsenal) which ended 1-0 with the only goal scored by Harry Kane. The upset of the week was the game Matt Ritchie stunned the team led by Jose Mourinho in the 65th minute, that goal separated the two sides as Manchester United now has a wholesome of 16 points to overturn if they are to win the league.
We have three players each from both Spanish La liga and the EPL, two from both Italian Serie A and the German Bundesliga while the French Ligue 1 produced one player.
The formation for this week is a twist to the conventional 4-3-3 which is 4-2-1-3. Here are the players who made the list:
1. SERGIO RICO Sevilla (Spain) GK: The Spanish goalie came out on top as the best performer as his side defeated Girona at home. He saved a penalty in the 40th minute to keep the scores at 0-0; his side went on to win with a lone goal scored by Pablo Sarabia.
2. PETER PEKARIK Hertha Berlin (Germany) RB: The German side right full back was the man of the match as his side went on to win away from home against Bayern Leverkusen 0-2. He made sure the right side was solid both defending and attacking which in the process got an assist for the second goal scored by Salomon Kalou.
3. RAMY BENSEBAINI Rennes (France) LB: The young Algerian put up a man of the match performance as his side defeated Olympique Lyonnais away from 0-2.
4. FLORIAN LEJUENE Newcastle United (England) CB: Benitez will have to thank the central back for an awesome performance all through the game as his side went on to take all three points against Manchester United at home.
5. NICOLAS NKOULOU Torino (Italy) CB: Arguably the best defender in all the top five European leagues in the weekend. Scored a goal and also made sure his team kept a clean sheet against Udinese.
6. WALDEMAR ANTON Hannover 96 (Germany) CMF: He scored the first goal of the game as his side defeated Freiburg at home. All through the game he was a threat from the central.
7. DANI PAREJO Valencia CF (Spain) CMF: The Real Madrid CF product helps his side back to winning ways in a famous city derby against Levante. He scored the last goal in the 3-1 win to seal the three points and also assisted the first goal.
8. KEVIN DE BRYNE Manchester City (England) AMF: One of the best players in the EPL if not the best in this current season was at it again over the weekend, laying down three goals as his side ran riot on Leicester City at the Etihad stadium.
9. CRISTIANO RONALDO Real Madrid (Spain) LWF: The current world footballer of the year has been in deep form all through the season but was back to scoring form as he netted three goals against Real Soceidad as his side won 5-2 at home.
10. SERGIO AGUERO Manchester City (England) CF: Arguably the best player over the weekend, the city front man scored four goals out of the five goals scored by Guardiola’s men against Leicester city. Those goals took the argentine to third on the log in terms of goals with 21 goals already this season.
11. CENGIZ ÜNDER AS Roma (Italy) RWF: A man of the match performance from the young Turkish forward, scoring two goals and also assisted another as AS Roma ran riot against Benevento.
