It’s a weekend of spectacular football conjure with spectacular performances from football players from the top five leagues in Europe.
The EPL was on hold last weekend because of the FA cup ties, so they did not feature in this week’s team. That leaves us with the Spanish La liga, German Bundesliga, Italian Serie A and French Ligue 1.
We have four players representing both the Spanish la liga and the French Ligue 1 while we have two from the German Bundesliga and last player is from the Italian Serie A.
The formation for this week is also a twist to the conventional 4-3-3 which is 4-2-1-3. Here are the players who made the list:
1. ROMAN BÜRKI Borussia Dortmund (Germany) GK: The Swiss goalkeeper was the man of the match in their 0-1 win away from home against Borussia Monchengladbach. Marco Reus got the only goal of the game but the away side goalie held the gong of the MOTM with his heroics saves all through the game.
2. DJIBRIL SIDIBÉ AS Monaco (France) RB: The French international right full back got one assist and was an attacking threat against Dijon all through the game. He was also the Man of the Match.
3. JORDI ALBA Barcelona (Spain) LB: The rejuvenated Spanish left full back was in top form over the weekend in which he was also rewarded with a goal as Barcelona won away from home 0-2 to extend their lead on top of the La liga table.
4. KAMIL GLIK AS Monaco (France) CB: Another AS Monaco player on the list is the Polish international who scored the last goal in their 4-0 win at home to Dijon.
5. THILO KEHRER Schalke 04 (Germany) CB: The young German defender was on point has his team took all three points in their 2-1 win against Hoffenhaim.
6. NICOLAS VIOLA Benevento (Italy) DMF: The Italian scored a goal and assisted another as his side ran out as winners in a close contest of 3-2 win over Crotone.
7. FRANCIS COQUELIN Valencia (Spain) DMF: A winter signing from arsenal got his first goal for Valencia over the weekend which was actually an equaliser after going down 1-0 courtesy of brown ideye. The Frenchman’s goal brought Marcelino’s men back to life and they went on to win the game 1-2 away from home.
8. RODRIGO HERNÁNDEZ CASCANTE Villarreal (Spain) CMF: He got the goal that kept Villarreal in the game against Espanyol away from home. He also kept the central park of the midfield solid all through the game.
9. CRISTIANO RONALDO Real Madrid (Spain) LWF: Back to back now he has featured on our team of the week. The current best player in the world has enjoyed a dip form this season but he is getting back his groove in this 2018. He scored Real Madrid’s fourth in their 3-5 away win against Real Betis; his constant threat all through the game earned him a place in our team of the week.
10. EDINSON CAVANI Paris Saint Germaine (France) CF: Scoring two goals in their 5-2 home win against Strasbourg was enough to earn the Uruguayan a place in our team of the week as our goal getter.
11. NEYMAR Paris Saint Germaine (France) RWF: He scored the second goal of the game and also gave an assist for the last goal of the game, showing that the Brazilian is enjoying football life in France with PSG.
