STAKEGAINS TEAM OF THE WEEK 3

5 months from now  Raphael   Sport News

This week’s team of the week is a competitive one in the sense that players all across Europe top leagues put up an awesome performance. But a team can only consist of eleven players which means some have to make room for others.
Despite how cumbersome it is to bring out eleven players out of the top performers last weekend, some players still stood out with their own respective performance.
Over the weekend there were few top notch matches but we still had a game that involves Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in which the red devil were victorious with a lone goal. Also in Serie A, the Rossaneri locked horns with Juventus at the San Siro but the Old ladies ran away with all three points. And the upset of the weekend came in La liga as the Catalan side Girona came back from a first half 0-1 defeat to stun the defending champions Real Madrid 2-1.
Another change in formation in this week’s “TEAM OF THE WEEK” which was due to the stellar performances by central backs.
The formation change from 4-4-2 last week to 3-4-3 this week. Here are the players who make up the team.

1. STEVE MANDANDA Olympique Marseille (France) GK: The French shot stopper prevented the home team from earning a single point after making six decisive saves from attempts of EL Ghazi, Amadou, and Pepe.

2. ADIL RAMI Olympique Marseille (France) CB: Rami was instrumental for Rudi Garcia’s men at the heart of defence, with his team also keeping clean sheet and taking all 3 points away from home.

3. CHRIS SMALLING Manchester United (England) CB: Pairing with both Eric Bailly and Phil Jones in a 3-Man defence against Tottenham, the England International was excellent all through the game.

4. VESTERGAARD Borussia Monchengladbach (Germany) CB: The Borussia Monchengladbach defender was on point in the game against Hoffenhaim away from home, scoring a goal in the 1-3 win

5. MAFFEO Girona (Spain) RWB: The young Manchester City loanee was a threat for Real Madrid both in attack and defence, his shot was turned in by Portu to give Girona the deserving victory over the defending champion.

6. SEAD KOLASINAC Arsenal (England) LWB: After his team went a goal down, he took it up to himself and carried his team on his hefty shoulders scoring the equaliser and assisted the winning goal scored by Aaron Ramsey. But late in the game his performance was cut short picking up a knock.

7. NABIL FEKIR Olympique Lyonnais (France) CMF: The Frenchman was pivotal for Lyon in their 2-0 home win over Metz scoring both goals and therefore making his second appearance on the stakegains team of the week

8. ALLAN Napoli (Italy) CMF: The Naples Midfielder was an important player for the Serie A league leaders, making sure the central midfield is well packed and also added a goal to bolster his performance.

9. LEROY SANE Manchester City (England) LWF: The German has been providing top notch performances for Cityzens since the start of the season, and against West Bromwich Albion he was the match winning figure for Guardiola’s men. Scoring a goal and assisted another in a 2-3 away win over Tony Pulis’ men.

10. CIRO IMMOBILE Lazio (Italy) RWF: One of the most in-form forward in Serie A and even across Europe top leagues, The Italian scored a goal and assisted another three as Lazio battered Benevento 1-5 away from home.

11. BEBOU Hannover 96 (Germany) CF: The surprise inclusion in the team of the week is the Hannover 96 point man who scored a brace as Hannover added more misery to the already wounded Borussia Dortmund who have failed to find their feet recently.

Let’s have your comment on what you think about our team of the week. See you next week.
