STAKEGAINS TEAM OF THE WEEK 6

6 months from now  Raphael   Sport News

After an awesome weekend of European club football, with numerous mouthwatering performances by football players all across Top five European football leagues. We decided to draft out football players who stand out for their various clubs to make our team of the week.

There were few top notch matches over the weekend, with the likes of Liverpool taking on Chelsea in the EPL in which they played out a 1-1 draw, in the Spanish La liga Valencia locked horns with Barcelona which also ended in a 1-1 draw but it was a different ball game entirely in Ligue 1 as Monaco bow to the firepower of Paris Saint Germaine as they went down 1-2 at home.

Still sticking with the standard formation of 4-3-3, here are the players that make up our team of the week:

1. JIMENEZ Malaga (Spain) GK: The Spanish side goalie was the only stand out player of his team despite the fact that his team lost to the Los Blancos but he made sure his team were not disgraced at the Santiago bernabeu making numerous top notch saves all through the game, notably stopping CR7’s penalty but he was unable to stop the rebound.

2. IBRAHIMA MBAYE Bologna (Italy) RB: The Italian side fullback was tremendous on the right flank of the defence, with a splendid performance in the process scoring a goal for himself in their 3-0 win over Sampdoria

3. ASHLEY YOUNG Manchester United (England) LB: The Englishman turns out to be the match winner as his sides got the better of Brighton with a 1-0 win scoring the only goal of the game.

4. SALIF SANE Hannover96 (Germany) CB:  The 27 years old Senegalese was awesome for his sides at the weekend, standing like a rock in the defence and also hit a post during the match.

5. MEDHI BENATIA Juventus (Italy) CB: The Moroccan produced a man of the match performance against Crotone and also got the last goal for his team. Juventus kept a clean sheet thanks to the former Bayern Munich defender.

6. SAIF-EDDINE KHAOUI Troyes (France) CMF: The Troyes central midfielder was instrumental for his side as they ran out 3-0 winners against Angers, scoring the first goal of the game.

7. EDEN HAZARD Chelsea (England) LMF: A torn in the flesh for the Merseyside Red defence all through the game, and he got the assist for the goal by Willian which leveled things up at Anfield.

8. MEMPHIS DEPAY Olympique Lyonnais (France) RMF: The Dutchman has really found his feet in Ligue 1 with top notch performances week in week out. Last weekend’s game against Nice away from home was not different from the previous week as the former Manchester United man putting up a stelar performance with two goals in their 0-5 win.

9. KEVIN GAMEIRO Atletico Madrid (Spain) CF: Many have known the Rojiblancos for their defensive approach to games but last weekend game against Levante was different as Atletico Madrid put  five past Levante, with Frenchman scoring two and assisted another.

10. ANTOINNE GRIEZMANN Atletico Madrid (Spain) LWF: Just like his fellow French Striker, he also scored two goals and assisted another in their 0-5 win over Levante away from home.

11. THORGAN HAZARD Borussia Monchengladbach (Germany) RWF: The second hazard on the list is the junior brother of Eden who was instrumental for his side in their 2-1 win over the league leaders Bayern Munich scoring the first goal directly from the spot.

Let’s have your comment on this and tell us the player who should have made the list.
