STAKEGAINS TEAM OF THE WEEK 7

7 months from now  Raphael   Sport News

It was another weekend of football in Europe with players giving the fans things to talk about all through the weekend. From top notch games, to upsets, to awesome performances by various teams and players, actually it was a weekend to remember in the top 5 European football leagues.
Arguably the biggest game of the weekend was at the EPL which involved Arsenal and Manchester United in which the Red devils ran away with all 3 points with a 1-3 away win. Another mouthwatering game was the match between Napoli and Juventus in the Serie A which only provided one goal which went in favour of the old ladies.
This week’s TEAM OF THE WEEK is dominated by EPL providing five players followed by Italian Serie A and Spanish La Liga providing two each while the French Ligue 1 and the German Bundesliga had to settle for one player each.
Having a twist in the 4-3-3 formation, this week’s formation is a 4-3-1-2 formation. Here the players who made the cut this week:

1. DAVID DE GEA Manchester United (England) GK: The Spanaird is one of the best Goalkeepers around the world if not the best; He was the reason why the united side of Manchester got away from the Emirates with all three points. In a game he made an awesome total of 14 saves which stand as a record in the EPL.

2. VICTOR MOSES Chelsea (England) RB: The blues wing back was awesome for his side, The Nigerian  won a penalty which was smoothly scored by Eden Hazard, and he also assisted the second goal scored by Alvaro Morata. The blues won the game by 3 goals to one.

3. FELIPE LUIS Atletico Madrid (Spain) LB: Rojiblancos had to thank the Brazilian for a stellar performance against Real Sociedad at the Wanda Metropolitano. With the team down by a goal the Brazilian left back took it up on himself and scored the equalizer and his team turned around the game and won 2-1.

4. MILAN SKRINIAR Inter Milan (Italy) CB: The Slovak international was a rock at the defence for the Spaletti’s lead team.  To crown his performance he got a goal for himself in their 5-0 win over Chievo.

5. KEVIN AKPOGUMA Hoffenhaim (Germany) CB: Hoffenhaim kept a clean sheet at the weekend against the ever scoring RB Leipzig and it was all thanks to the performance of the Nigerian born German. He also assisted the second goal scored by Sergei Gnabry.

6. PHILIPPE COUTINHO Liverpool (England) CMF: Liverpool were firing in all cylinders at the weekend thanks to the Brazilian who was involved in 3 goals assisting two goals and scoring a free kick with a tricky low shot drive.

7. JOIA NUNO DA COSTA RC Strasbourg (France) RMF: The upset of the week happened in  Ligue 1 as RC Strasbourg pulled a great surprise to defeat one the most in form team in Europe. PSG bowed to the awesome performance of the Cape Verdean who scored the first goal and created the second as his team won 2-1 at home.

8. IVAN PERISIC Inter Milan (Italy) LMF: The hat-trick hero of the weekend, the Croatian international put up a terrific performance for the Azzuris scoring three goals out of the five goals scored against Chievo, which was a Man of the Match performance.

9. ROBERTO FIRMINO Liverpool (England) CF: Every team needs a poacher and as for our team of the week, the Reds striker is our best option. Firmino teamed up well with his fellow Brazilian Coutinho, scoring two clinical goals against Brighton.

10. EDEN HAZARD Chelsea (England) SS: Supporting our two strikers will be the Belgian, scoring an equalizer and also added coolly converted penalty to give is side a 3-1 win over Newcastle.

11. IAGO ASPAS Celta Vigo (Spain) CF: The Spaniard was influential for his side away from home against the La liga giants Barcelona. He lighted up the Camp Nou by scoring the first goal and when Barcelona thought they have won all three points the former Liverpool striker showed character by drifting from the right to assist Gomes’ second goal as his team took back home a point.

Let’s have your comment on this and tell us the player who should have made the list.
