Statistics shows who was Real Madrid best coach this season between Zidane, Solari and Lopetegui

1 month from now  Raphael   Sport News

Despite being replaced by Zinedine Zidane after Real Madrid's Champions League elimination and a subsequent 4-1 win over Real Valladolid, Santiago Solari ends the 2018/19 season as the best of the three Los Blancos coaches. His 12 wins, four defeats, and one draw gave him an impressive 72.54 percentage of points won during his spell, but the humiliation against Ajax proved too much to handle for those at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Then came the Frenchman who accumulated 17 of the 33 points available, amounting to 51.51 percent. The worst of the three was Julen Lopetegui, whose tenure now seems a distant memory. He managed just 14 points from his 10 games, taking 46.66 percent of those up for grabs.

Zidane was in charge for the final 11 matches of Real Madrid's season and he didn't enjoy too much success as he only oversaw five wins, as well as two draws and four defeats. This means Zidane won just 45.4 percent of his LaLiga Santander fixtures, more than the 40 percent of Julen Lopetegui but less than the 70 percent of Santiago Solari.

When Lopetegui was sacked Los Blancos were down in ninth in the table, but Zidane's record hasn't been much better and his Real Madrid side would be eighth if the league had started when he returned on March 11. Barcelona, Valencia, Atletico Madrid, Espanyol, Sevilla, Athletic Club, and Villarreal have all earned more points than Zidane's Real Madrid side in the past 70 days.

While 87 points may not be as high a winning total as in previous seasons, it is enough to mean that Barcelona finished the LaLiga Santander season with the largest gap ever recorded between themselves and eternal rivals Real Madrid. With the point gained away to Eibar, Ernesto Valverde's men finished 19 points ahead of Los Blancos and 11 in front of second-placed Atletico Madrid.

This gap between the Clasico teams has never been as large in all of the years of LaLiga competition, even topping last year's difference of 17 points. The Blaugrana's superiority was clear to see early on in the season and such was their dominance that they sat in first place at the close of 35 of the 38 game weeks in the season, with Sevilla and Real Madrid the other teams to temporarily grab the top spot.
