Stats Shows De Gea Is Not Among The Best 6 Goalkeepers In EPL This Season

3 days ago  Raphael   Sport News

Premier League returns on our screens once again this weekend after two weeks of International football. There will no more interruptions at least until March 2019.
On Saturday, Manchester United will host Crystal Palace at Old Trafford, League leaders Manchester City will be away against West Ham United, Liverpool will also travel to face Watford, and Bournemouth will host Arsenal. The weekend biggest game will feature Tottenham Hotspurs against Chelsea.
Today, we want to look at six goalkeepers with highest saves percentage in 2018/19 EPL Season So Far.
6. Rui Patrício – 74%
It is still hard for many football fans to understand how Wolves managed to sign Portugal experienced goalkeeper Rui Patrício. He was a target for several top clubs in Europe. He has started well in the Premier League so far with a save percentage of 74%. The newly promoted side is 11th on the table with 16 points.
5. Kepa Arrizabalaga- 74.19%
World most expensive goalkeeper is doing pretty well so far at Chelsea. The Blues shot-stopper has conceded only 8 goals so far in 12 matches. In fact, the 24-year-old is actually doing better than his fellow Spaniard David De Gea who obviously has more experience in the Premier League.
4. Petr Cech – 75.68%
Arsenal veteran goalkeeper is struggling to get back his place in the first team because young Leno is doing very well at the moment. However, for the 7 matches, he played before the injury, the Czech legend managed to record a 75.68% save percentage. He is still good but at 36, there are always limits.
3. Ederson – 79.17%
Brazil Coach Tite is the happiest man in the World right now especially in regard to his goalkeepers. Ederson has allowed only 5 goals so far this season. He has a save percentage of 79.17% in Premier League.
This is a phenomenal record but unfortunately, he is competing with Alisson Becker who has better numbers and percentage. It is a welcome headache for the Samba Boys tactician because he knows all is good no matter who he selects to start crucial matches.
2. Alisson Becker – 83%
Liverpool paid a record fee to sign Alisson Becker from AS Roma last summer and he already looks like a bargain. The Brazilian has only conceded five goals so far this season in Premier League. He has a save percentage of 83% which is second in the League.
1.Hugo Lloris – 86.11%
Tottenham Hotspurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has been in and out of the team this season because of injuries among other issues. However, when he starts, he is one of the most difficult shot-stoppers to beat. This explains why he continues to keep Michel Armand Vorm and Stephen Mandanda out of the team. Mauricio Pochetino has always defended him no matter what is going on. France Coach Didier Deschamps has no doubt he is the best. In the Premier League so far, he has the highest save percentage with 86.11%. It shows why Spurs are winning 1-0 comfortably these days.
