Lichtsteiner emerged as a surprise Arsenal target shortly after Unai Emery was appointed as Arsene Wenger’s successor last month. Emery wants to sign players that will bring a winning mentality and has successfully moved to sign Lichtsteiner after his Juventus deal expired.
“Stephan brings huge experience and leadership to our squad,” Emery told Arsenal’s official website. “He’s a player with great quality with a very positive and determined attitude. Stephan will improve us on and off the pitch.”
Lichtsteiner, who has 99 caps for Switzerland, won the Serie A title in each of his seven seasons at Juventus. The 34-year-old was a regular squad player for Juventus but dropped out of favour in the last two campaigns, particularly in European competition.
The veteran right-back will provide competition with Hector Bellerin and is expected to be joined at the club by Borussia Dortmund centre-back Sokratis.
