Barcelona B right-back Sergi Palencia has emerged as a surprise target for Stoke City ahead of the summer transfer window.
According to the football transfer rumours in Spanish Media, Stoke City are leading the chase for Barcelona B right-back Sergi Palencia.
Sergi Palencia has joined Barcelona from Badalona on free transfer in July 2007. The 21 year-old has a valid contract with Barcelona until June 2018.
Since his arrival from Badalona, Sergi Palencia has scored one goals and provided two assists in 60 games for Barcelona B in all competitions this season.
The 21-year-old is considered to be one of the most talented right-backs in Spain.
The Spain international is a player who has impressed many European managers in the last two seasons, and it is understood that Stoke City manager Mark Hughes would prefer playing him as a right-back. Palencia would be perfect competition for Phillip Bardsley next season.
Euro Football Rumours understood that Sergi Palencia has a buy-out clause around 12 million euros in his contract.
How strong that interest is and whether Stoke City will make a summer move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
