SuperSport United coach Stuart Baxter says the team needs a permanent goalkeeper

SuperSport United coach Stuart Baxter says the team doesn't have an outright number one goalkeeper. Former Kaizer Chiefs keeper Reyaad Pieterse is currently playing ahead of Ronwen Williams, who has been a mainstay for United in previous seasons but lost his place in the side through injury. Although Williams is available again alongside back-up option Boalefa Pule, Baxter looks likely to continue with Pieterse for the time being. “We don’t have a number one really. The goalkeeper that has possession of the shirt is the number one,” says Baxter.

“Reyaad and Pule have been pushing to get that shirt from him. If you continue playing solidly then we don’t rotate the shirt. If you play solidly in the shirt as a keeper or centre-forward then you are in possession of the shirt. Reyaad is okay at the moment.” Matsatsantsa, who are two points shy of log leaders Cape Town City with a game in hand, will face Orlando Pirates at Orlando Stadium on Tuesday night.
