Tayfun: Bayer will use every minute to try to come back

After a 4-2 loss in the first leg of their Round of 16 tie against Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen coach Tayfun Korkut admitted that his side were not favourites to progress but that they would give everything in trying to turn the deficit around.
An early goal for the Germans at the Estadio Vicente Calderon could change the complexion of the game, much as Barcelona did against Paris Saint-Germain.
"It won't be easy to face a team with such class," Tayfun said at his pre-match press conference."We are not favourites, but we are going to take advantage of every minute to try and get back on track.
"I have a lot of confidence in the team, we know that it is difficult to overcome a rival who knows how to suffer but we will have to take risks.
"We have to work and seek to change the dynamics of the other team.
"Though Bayer face an uphill battle, the Turkish coach, who recently replaced Roger Schmidt, remains very positive.
"I got a good feeling the other day," he continued, referring to the draw against Werder Bremen.
"I found the team very curious about my new ideas and their attention was very good."That gives me strength as a coach.
"Much of the focus for goals will fall on Chicharito, a fact not lost on Tayfun."Chicharito is a very important player and we know he knows how to score goals," he said.
"I hope he will start on Wednesday and that there is a good collective performance from the team, because we don't want to rely only on individuals.
"We are not in the position to be able to trust that one player can change everything for us."
