The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) believes they can successfully woo new and in-form Everton striker, Ademola Lookman into dumping a potential Three Lions call up for the Super Eagles.
In a statement by the technical director of the Nigeria football governing body, Bitrus Bewarang, the teenage striker is in line to be invited to the Gernot Rohr tutored side.
He noted that the Super Eagles manager is seriously scouting for both young and in-form nigerian footballers plying their trade in Europe. This is aimed at getting the best legs to prosecute the upcoming qualifying matches, expose these players as well as ensuring that Nigeria qualifies for both the World Cup and the Nations Cup holding in Russia in 2018 and Cameroon the next year respectively.
He reiterated that despite the fact that the NFF is yet to talk to the 19 year old, the selection of players for the Super Eagles still lies solely on the manager and Lookman who is in a very good form this season will be given the nod so he can translate his form into results for the Super Eagles.
If they succeed, he will join the likes of Victor Moses and Alex Iwobi who joined the Super Eagles after playing for the age group sides of England.
Ademola Olajide Lookman was an £11million January signing for Everton from Charlton Athletic and scored on his debut with his first shot in a 4-0 demolition of Manchester City
