Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Teko Modise insists the team are not thinking about winning the Nedbank Cup just yet after seeing off minnows Mariveni United in their tournament opener. The African and topflight champions beat the fourth-tier outfit 2-0 in Atteridgeville on Monday night. Modise, who got a rare start this season against Mariveni, told his website: "Look it was a good win for the team. We played well and at the end of the day got the desired results.
"You hear a lot of people say it was an easy game for us to play. I do not think so. Remember that this is a competition where all the teams are looking to impress and play at their best. So we had to respect the opponents just like any team we play." The former Bafana Bafans star added: "We are professionals and will just wait to know who to face next. We do not wish to get any specific team so we welcome whoever we will have to face. As for thinking of lifting the trophy, it is too early to even think of that. We are through to the next round and will take it a game at a time." Downs will start their CAF Champions League title defence against Uganda's Kampala Capital City Authority at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Friday, with coach Pitso Mosimane facing a selection headache.
