Mohamed Salah doesn't care about people's expectations of him and has insisted it's too early to talk about winning the title. The Liverpool winger has five goals and three assists this season but has set high standards for himself after two impressive seasons with the Reds.
Sky Sports pundit and former Liverpool man Phil Thompson raised concerns over Salah's recent form, questioning if he was still struggling with injury.
"It is a concern. The ankle injury that he had, it’s just that push off the mark. It doesn’t look as though he’s free-flowing," Thompson told Sky Sports.
"He’s just not getting away from people as you have seen that burst of speed. He’s getting away, but it’s only within tackling distance. His shooting certainly wasn’t on target against Genk and maybe he is saving them all for something."
But Salah insists he isn't concerned by what other people have to say: "To be honest, I don't care about what the papers expect from me," he told Sky Sports.
"As much as the team is winning and I am scoring goals, it's fine but I don't have to care about what the people expect from me, because that's something that puts more pressure on you and makes you not perform good. I'm just doing what I want to do and I'm happy about it, that's it."
The Egyptian international is also adamant it's too early for Liverpool to start thinking about winning the title ahead of a huge clash with Man City on Sunday.
He said: "They were talking about that in December last year, six points, seven points, it's over. It's not over, that's like three games. If over a period of time you lose two games you are in trouble again so even if you win [against Man City], it's still a long way.
"We are still in November so it's still early to talk about the Premier League."
The Reds could go nine points clear with a win over City but Pep Gaurdiola's side will claw the deficit back to three if victorious at Anfield.
