Former Inter goalkeeper Francesco Toldo spoke about Jose Mourinho's appointment as the new Tottenham coach as well as his experiences with the Portuguese coach in an interview with Italian media outlet TuttoMercatoWeb yesterday.
“Although it is difficult to interpret people's thoughts, I believe that knowing him he has accepted because there are great ambitions there. I think that before accepting, he evaluated the situation well. He always had clear ideas. He has always had clear ideas. Clarity has always been one of his virtues.”
He spoke of any similarities between Mourinho and current Inter coach Antonio Conte.
“As far as I can tell, I think they're two different coaches also in management. Antonio was my teammate in the national team and then we met when he was leading Italy and me in the Under 21 as the goalkeeping coach. Mou has a way of managing and communicating with the players that is unique and original.”
Finally, Toldo touched on his connection with the Portuguese coach, who he worked under when the Nerazzurri won the Treble.
“We often talk and recently, in March, with Inter Forever we went to play a game in England to inaugurate the new Tottenham stadium. So, you know what I did? I called Mourinho to ask him if he was coming to be my second… He came and we also won. Remembering him now that he's become Tottenham's coach, that's a great curiosity.”
