Top 10 players to have played for both Chelsea and Liverpool [Two Africans on the list]

Chelsea and Liverpool will be facing themselves the second time in the space of three days after their encounter in the Carabao cup on Wednesday in which the London club came out victorious 2-1 at the Anfield stadium with goals from former Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge who scored a bicycle kick for the Merseyside Reds and a leveler from Emerson before Eden Hazard came on to win the game for Maurizio Sarri’s men.
Ahead of the encounter, we will be reviewing top ten players who have don the shirt of both clubs. On the list, two African footballers made the top 10 list.

10. Boudewijn Zenden
In his two years at Chelsea, Zenden played in the 2002 FA Cup final, a 2–0 defeat to Arsenal, however, he struggled to maintain a constant place in the starting line-up mainly due to persistent injuries. He joined Liverpool in 2005 after they won the UEFA Champions League, he started his Liverpool career being used regularly as a left midfielder and was in the starting line-up as Liverpool won the 2005 UEFA Super Cup.


9. Yossi Benayoun
The Isreali international joined Liverpool in 2007 from West Ham United after spending three seasons at the Merseyside Red he moved to London to join Chelsea in 2010 where he spent three seasons also but mostly on loan to clubs like Arsenal and West Ham.


8 Raul Meireles
On 29 August 2010, Meireles moved to Liverpool for a fee of £11.5 million. He spent only one season before joining Liverpool's rival Chelsea in 2011 for a reported fee to be in the region of £12 million.
He sat out the Champions League final against FC Bayern Munich by receiving a yellow card against Barcelona at Camp Nou but was still given a medal for his participation after the 4–3 victory on penalties.


7 Victor Moses
On 24 August, Chelsea announced that the transfer of Moses had been completed. Moses made his full debut for Chelsea when he started the League Cup game against Wolverhampton Wanderers and scored his first goal after 71 minutes in a game that finished 6–0 to the Blues.
Due to lack of playing time under new manager Jose Mourinho, On 2 September 2013, Moses signed for Liverpool on a season-long loan deal.
After coming back from loan at a lot of EPL clubs he impressed new manager Antonio Conte during the preseason, Moses was included in the first-team squad, and he won the EPL title and the FA Cup with the club.


6 Glen Johnson
Glen Johnson was a promising youngster when he made his way to Stamford Bridge from West Ham United, but could not get going. He would kickstart his career at Portsmouth before moving to Liverpool as England's first-choice right-back.


5 Nicolas Anelka
The Frenchman spent the entirety of his career playing a lot of different clubs, with Liverpool and Chelsea both falling in his collection.
He joined the Blues seven years and three clubs after joining Liverpool on loan.


4 Daniel Sturridge
Daniel Sturridge moved from Chelsea to Liverpool in search of proper game time, after falling out of favour at Stamford Bridge. This was a move that had bags of potential, for a player that had bags of potential.
The England international scored against his old club in the Carabao cup on Wednesday and he will be facing them again this weekend.


3 Joe Cole
The Englishman was known for his time at Chelsea where he won back to back Premier League titles under Jose Mourinho.
Joe Cole moved to Anfield on a free transfer from Chelsea in 2010 in what looked to be an extremely shrewd piece of business.


2 Fernando Torres
Fernando Torres is the most prominent player who has played for both Liverpool and Chelsea. Having spent three and a half years at both clubs, Torres had two completely different experiences.
Fernando Torres moved from Liverpool to Chelsea in January 2011 for a then-Premier League record of £50 million, but he became a shadow of his former self. He seemed to have left his scoring boots in Merseyside, as the goals weren't flowing in.
He won the UEFA Champions League and the Europa League during his time at Chelsea


1 Mohamed Salah
Chelsea poached him from Basel in January 2014, but the Egyptian never really got going at Stamford Bridge. He struggled a lot and left for Fiorentina, and later Roma, after a year or so in England.
He returned to England with a vengeance and took the Premier League by storm, scoring a record-breaking 32 goals in 2017-18. He will be facing them this weekend.
