It was a busy day for Premier League top sides - Arsenal, Manchester United, and Liverpool as some of their stars were on the move on deadline day.
The transfer deadline for English teams was August 8 compared to other leagues that fixed theirs for September 2. The day witnessed moves of premier league trio of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Matteo Darmian and Bobby Duncan to the Italian Serie A.
Mhkitaryan who featured in the North London derby on Sunday, has switched sides leaving the Emirates on a season-long loan to Serie A side AS Roma. The Armenian star joined Arsenal from fellow Premier League rivals Manchester United in an exchange deal that involved Alexis Sanchez but he failed to impress at the Emirates.
Darmian, however, chose to return to his native country Italy after an unsuccessful five seasons at Old Trafford. The Italy international joined Parma on a permanent deal worth £1.35m.
Another player who left the Premier League on Deadline Day is Bobby Duncan who joined Fiorentina from Liverpool. According to reports, the youngster signed a three-year contract in Florence, with the option of two further years. The fee is understood to be £2m, with Liverpool have a 20% sell-on clause.
In other deals on Transfer Deadline Day, Super Eagles midfielder, Kelechi Nwakali left Arsenal to join Spanish Segunda Division side, SD Huesca on a permanent deal. The Nigeria international joined the Gunners in 2016 after captaining Golden Eaglets at the 2015 Under-17 World Cup, where he won the Golden Ball as the tournament’s best player.
Kelechi spent the first half of the 2017/18 season on loan at VVV Venlo in the Eredivisie, before joining MW Maastricht. During these two loan spells he made 30 appearances. Last season, he spent time on loan with Porto in the Portuguese Premiera Liga.
Earlier in the day, former Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez (Chicharito) also made a move away from England with 10 months remaining on his contract at West Ham. The Mexico International left the London club to join Europa League giants Sevilla on a permanent deal.
