According to English media outlet EXPRESS, Chelsea top transfer target Leandro Paredes who has been tipped to replaced Cesc Fabregas at the Stamford bridge has been photographed undergoing a medical. As it has been said that the Argentine midfielder is seen as a potential replacement for Cesc Fabregas, who left the Blues for French Ligue 1 side AS Monaco last week. Reports suggested Chelsea have made an opening bid to the Russian side with the Blues offering £26.8million. Zenit had paid £24m for Paredes from Roma in July 2017 and it’s believed they want a significant profit with the midfielder regularly impressing.
It’s been claimed that Chelsea are willing to offer Paredes a four-year contract worth £80,000 per week.And the 24-year-old has been part of the Zenit squad having medicals today with the club posting an image on their social media. Chelsea fans clocked onto the tweet, which shows Paredes having an eye test, and were quick to react.
One posted: “Looks like Paredes is having an eye problem. He needs to visit an eye specialist near Cobham for a quick checkup.” A third simply wrote: “Welcome to Chelsea.” Another added: “Give us paredes. We need him. Let him go to chelsea. Please.”
It comes after Paredes had retweeted a video appearing to introduce him at Stamford Bridge at the end of last week. Sarri admitted after Chelsea beat Newcastle 2-1 on Saturday that a replacement for Fabregas is needed.
“Today Jorginho was in trouble and on the bench there wasn’t a player for that position. I need an option for Jorginho,” Sarri said after the win over the Magpies. “After the goal I think we thought ‘now it’s easy’, but it wasn’t. “We slept for 20, 25 minutes, so at the end of the first half we were in trouble. We need to improve in the mental reaction.”
Cagliari ace Nicola Barella has also been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge. Chelsea will be hoping of securing a deal ahead of Saturday’s trip to Arsenal (5.30pm).
