Barcelona are continuing their search for a new coach and have whittled their shortlist down to the two names of Juan Carlos Unzue and Ernesto Valverde, with the next few months to prove key in separating them.
If Unzue can help the departing Luis Enrique to win either LaLiga or the Champions League in the final stretch of the campaign, then his stock would rise greatly.
It would be a simple transition if he were to succeed the Asturian in the Camp Nou hotseat, but Unzue will need to deliver some more silverware to earn the board's trust.
However, winning the Copa del Rey would not be enough on its own and failure in the league or in Europe would swing the momentum back in Valverde's favour.
Even though he has been in Bilbao in recent years, the appointment of Valverde would also be one of continuity, given that he is a former player and understands the club's ways.
