UEFA tired of Real Madrid and Barcelona accusations

1 month ago  Raphael   Sport News

As Real Madrid and Barcelona launch accusations at one another, UEFA have increasingly found themselves unwillingly caught in the crossfire, something which is clearly not in the European body's best interest.
In their view, the Champions League has become a tool to voice complaints that don't benefit football on the whole, and do more harm then good for the prestige of the competition.
What happened last Wednesday at the Camp Nou hasn't left anyone happy and the aftermath has led to heated exchanges on multiple levels.
While Real Madrid and Barcelona have dominated the scene in recent years, the European competition is bigger than just the two of them and the governing body must set out to prove that.
Some have interpreted the Blaugrana comeback and the refereeing performance as an attack on Real Madrid, which new president Aleksander Ceferin is much less tolerant of than previous boss Michel Platini.
With Friday's quarter-final draw, the 'hot ball' controversy is sure to spring up again no matter what the outcome, and the environment created by Spain's big two will inevitably create further disagreements and accusations.
