Unai Emery to break Arsene Wenger's tradition at Arsenal

Unai Emery’s side opened their Group E campaign with a comfortable win over Ukrainian side Vorskla Poltava a fortnight ago. They followed that up with a resounding 3-0 win away from home against Azerbaijan side Qarabag to make it eight wins in a row.
Arsenal's new boss Unai Emery will give his players an extra day off after defeating Qarabag away from home in order to recover for Sunday’s game against Fulham.
Former Gunners boss Arsene Wenger traditionally asked his team to do a light training session after Europa League matches, but Emery’s methods are different.
Arsenal will make the 5,000-mile trip from Azerbaijan to London immediately tonight, arriving in London at 4am on Friday. Emery believes taking Friday off will leave his players in ‘perfect’ condition to face Fulham on Sunday.
Speaking about his decision, Emery said: “It’s very important for us in this competition.
“We are giving each competition our best preparation, our best performance and the travel is long, but it’s not an excuse.  “I had a very different experience when you play Wednesday or Thursday and then Saturday or Sunday.
“There are very few days to recover physically and also the mentality of the players to play again in a few hours another match.
“In this experience, I won, I lost and I played better in the second match. “We are one team with every player with this experience and also with the habit to play, to recover for another match and continue playing.
“It’s the reason, for me, that I prefer time to have to recover physically for the players. “But for me, it’s good and we are okay tomorrow with every player to play. We are going to be also perfect to play against Fulham on Sunday.”
