Unfinished business for Lionel Messi

2 months ago  Raphael   Sport News

A clash between Barcelona and Chelsea has become a classic during this century with so much to discuss on and off the pitch and so many unforgettable moments for both sets of fans.

This is one more game and there are scores to be settled with feelings of injustice and in particular the clash which the referee Obrebo oversaw.

There have been comments made such as those by Mourinho who talked about Barcelona play acting and in particular Lionel Messi after a challenge by Del Horno.

Iniesta's goal at Stamford Bridge will never be forgotten, like that by Bakero in Kaiserslautern which were two goals that led to two European Cups.

Guardiola as a coach saw his Champions League time at Barcelona begin with Chelsea and the night when Iniesta scored while it ended with the Catalan side being knocked out by the London team, with Fernando Torres scoring at the Camp Nou.

Messi now is motivated having missed a penalty in the final game at the Camp Nou and that will make it even harder for Chelsea. Alexis Sanchez recently revealed that Messi even cried after missing that penalty.

Scoring though has been a surprising problem for Barcelona in Europe and in 2017 they only have one goal from five games, which was an own-goal.

Courtois has also proved to be a wall for Messi who has failed to score against the Belgian in the last eight games that they have played.

Valverde has all his key players available at Stamford Bridge with the only doubt in the starting lineup being whether Paulinho or Andre Gomes begin in midfield.

Chelsea meanwhile do not come into the game in good form with a lack of consistency and Antonio Conte's position in doubt.
