Athletic Club's Ernesto Valverde and Sevilla's Jorge Sampaoli have emerged as the favourites to replace Luis Enrique as Barcelona coach, but Juan Carlos Unzue has the inside experience that could lead to him getting the job, his case strengthened after the PSG comeback.The Barcelona hierarchy have repeated that they are after someone who understands the club, its style, its philosophy and roots, an angle that gives Unzue an edge.His choice would represent a continuation of where the club are already heading, whereas Valverde or Sampaoli would be seen as more disruptive and ready to steer the team in a new direction.Not only is Unzue, a former goalkeeper, known for his set-piece expertise, he is also the one that carries out and communicates Luis Enrique's instructions to the players during matches.In the same way that Tito Vilanova was promoted from assistant coach to first team boss, Unzue could follow suit.The historic comeback against PSG further strengthen's his case, as there is little need for more drastic change if history is still being made.Nonetheless, with Ernesto Valverde's contract with Athletic Club finishing on June 30, the Leones' tactician is still in prime position to be crowned successor.
