Valencia willing to negotiate with Barcelona for Cancelo

2 weeks from now  Raphael   Sport News

Although it seemed impossible just four days ago, a move to take Joao Cancelo from Valencia to Barcelona in January could now be a real possibility.
Until recently, Los Che had been adamant that the 22-year-old would not be allowed to leave the club during the winter transfer window.
However, things have now changed at the club and Cancelo could in fact depart next month, with Barcelona interested in taking him to the Camp Nou.
Despite being in the middle of the campaign, Valencia's hierarchy are extremely unhappy with their indifferent form and are willing to make changes this winter and will listen to offers for players, including Cancelo.
Barcelona are desperate to add a right-back to their ranks in the next transfer window, with Aleix Vidal having done little to convince the club, particularly in the wake of Dani Alves' departure for Juventus last summer.
The reigning Spanish champions are keen on Cancelo to fill that position but are eager to avoid spending too much midway through the season, although they are hopeful that Valencia's willingness to do business could be a factor in helping them pull off a relatively cut price deal.
However, it should be noted that the Portugal international has met with Valencia's sporting director Jesus Garcia Pitarch, not to express his desire to leave but quite the opposite in fact.
The player was flabbergasted at reading claims which suggested he was keen to secure a move to Barcelona during the winter transfer window and wanted to explain to the club in person that there was no basis to those reports and that he was committed to staying at the club and helping them turn their dismal form around.
