Brazilian young forward Vinicius Jr signed for Real Madrid after numerous calls from some big teams in Europe trying to convince him to their sides. The kid took the Brazilian league by storm with wonderful performances and game-winning goals.

In an interview with MARCA, Vinicius revealed how Real Madrid’s Brazilian pair Marcelo and Casemiro helps him in his decision to join the Los Blancos. He also said Roberto Carlos, Ronaldo, even his idol Neymar were not left out.

Why did you choose Real Madrid?

"Marcelo and Casemiro helped me a lot in the decision. My family too. They visited all the clubs and ended up opting for Real Madrid. I had to think very fast and I think I made the right choice. At Madrid, there are Brazilians who will be able to help me on and off the pitch."

"Also, playing with Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos. I have no words to explain what that means to me. Being next to the best is something that I always dreamed of, that's why I chose Real Madrid."

On their trip to Madrid and Barcelona, there was an important moment. Your uncle Ulysses called you, do you remember how that went?

"Yes, I had just two or three days to choose. When I went to sleep I was thinking a lot. Marcelo and Casemiro called me a lot and I ended up choosing Real Madrid."

Neymar was at Barcelona during this time and you have always said that he's your idol. Did he not press you to go there?

"Yes, enough besides. He always called me, but I was thinking about what would be best for me and for my career. I had to go to the club where I could evolve more and improve technically."

What did Marcelo and Casemiro tell you when you spoke to them?
"Casemiro always sends me messages to congratulate me and tell me that I'm on the right track. He tells me to continue how I am, that when I arrive I will adapt quickly and I will give them plenty to celebrate."

"And Marcelo always says that I have to maintain the positive football that I have and my ability. I'm a big fan of him and I'd like to have a bit of his skill because that way I'll become an excellent player."
