Liverpool legend and former Captain, Steven Gerrard has congratulated the Reds as they claim their first Premier League title after 30 years of wait.

Chelsea defeated Manchester City 2-1 at the Stamford Bridge which automatically crowned the Merseyside Reds the champions with seven games left.

Gerrard who was not able to win the Premier League title during his time at the club took to Instagram to congratulate his former club as they finally broke the jinx.

"Congratulations to all @liverpoolfc on winning the premier league . Incredible achievement from a fantastic squad of top players," he said on his official instagram page.

"Lead by a world class manager and coaching team also a special mention for the backing from FSG.

"And lastly and most importantly the fans who have waited 30 years . ❤️ let the party begin ????."

Manchester City will be giving Liverpool a guard of honour at the Etihad next week
