After already winning the first derby of the season at the Estadio San Mames, Ernesto Valverde's Athletic Club emerged victorious and deservedly so away from home to increase the pressure in the fight for Europa League spots.

Raul Garcia slid home a first half penalty just under Sociedad keeper Geronimo Rulli to open the scoring in the 28th minute and the Bilbao side didn't look back.At the other side of half-time, an Inaki Williams goal in the 56th minute sealed all three points after a poor back pass from 'La Real' right back Alvaro Odriozola, in what was a dominant performance from the Athletic striker.
