Real Madrid former manager shows he bears no grudge with the club since opting to resign at the end of last season. The five-time UEFA Champions league winner at the club returned to the club on Saturday.
Former Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane was back at the club's training ground on Saturday, taking his place in the stands of the Estadio Alfredo di Stéfano to watch his son, Luca, play in goal for Los Blancos' 'B' team, Castilla, in a 3-1 win over Navalcarnero in Spain's Segunda División B.
On Monday, Zidane was among the contenders for the coach of the year prize at FIFA's The Best Football Awards in London - finally losing out to France boss Didier Deschamps - and, having attended the ceremony at the Royal Festival Hall, made the most of the chance to spend the week in the UK capital with his wife, Veronique, and take in the sights of the city.
Zidane posted pictures in London this week as he traveled around the city. But one of the issues with Zidane coming to England is the language barrier, but he seems to be trying to sort that out. The former Real Madrid boss is believed to be keen on replacing Jose Mourinho at Manchester United and it has been reported that Zidane seems to be taking things into his own hands as he has started getting himself ready for the job by learning English.
Since his surprise resignation as Real coach at the end of May, speculation has been rife over Zidane's next career move. Although the Frenchman is yet to offer any firm indications over where his future lies, he confirmed in an interview with TVE earlier this month that he intends to "coach again soon".
The Sun believes that Zidane has started learning English recently and he is very keen on replacing Mourinho at United, as soon as the Portuguese get the axe at Old Trafford. Zidane was spotted near Man United’s London offices recently and that added further fuel to the fire of reports linking the Frenchman to the possible, future vacancy at Old Trafford.
The Sun exclusively claim that Zidane is ‘desperate to land’ the job at Old Trafford, and has even rejected a number of jobs to keep himself available. Why does United want him? Because he was ‘seen as a calming influence in the Real Madrid changing room and was able to unite a group of underperforming superstars’.
It is thought he would be better equipped to get the best out of his compatriot Pogba, and with the pressure cranking up on Mourinho — Zidane wants to be ready to take over at Old Trafford immediately. The latest spat between the Red Devils boss and Pogba saw him strip the World Cup winner of United’s vice-captaincy. Speaking at his press conference on Friday, Mourinho insisted no player is bigger than Manchester United as he fired a warning at the 25-year-old.
