The euphoria that has gripped the supporters at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu needs to be curbed according to Zinedine Zidane, who has been at pains to point out that Real Madrid haven't won any major titles yet this season.
Indeed, the Frenchman doesn't want his players to get caught up in it and prefers that they continue working with the same humility and intensity that they have done so far.
"We have not won anything yet," was his clear message after the win over Sevilla in the Copa Del Rey, and in the lead up to the Granada game which Los Blancos will be expected to win comfortably.
With a foot and a half in the quarterfinals of the cup, and a good track record against the Andalusians, Real might already be dreaming of a place in the next round.
Not Zidane though, who baulks at such over-confidence.
It's true that Real have already achieved two titles - Supercopa de Europa and Club World Cup - but they are the least important to the team and the club as a whole.
The coach doesn't want these two achievements to confuse the purpose of the squad.
It may be surprising that Zidane is the first not to beat his chest for what he has achieved, but he is sincere and knows that the big titles are yet to come.
That's precisely why he wants his staff to keep a lid on the euphoria for now.
Professional
Zizou always boasts about the degree of maturity and professionalism of his staff and for that reason, the speeches and talks he gives have to be short and to the point - as they have been in the two meetings held by the group since the victory against Sevilla.
The Frenchman considers that a small reminder is enough for his players to refocus again on what their goals are.
"What I like is our daily work, the work we do to prepare for the games," he said on Friday.
"Then the consequence is winning and breaking records, but it is not the most important thing."
His lineup last Wednesday surprised everyone, but the absence of some players like Cristiano Ronaldo or Karim Benzema is due to a plan drawn up by the coaching staff and referring to the nine games that the team can target in January.
Zidane wants to ensure minutes are shared by as many players as possible.
Ronaldo agreed with the decision and the coach knows that if the Portuguese wants to reach the end of the season in top condition, he has to be allowed to manage his minutes and effort properly.
