Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona has completed the signing of Inigo Martinez on a free transfer after is contract with Basque side Athletic Bilbao ended. The Spanish defender is the second summer signing for the Catalans after they previously announced the signing of Ilkay Gundogan, who also joined the club on a free transfer.
Barcelona included a release clause of 400 million euro in Martinez contract and he signed a two years deal with the club.
Barcelona released an official statement on their website to confirm the signing of Martinez on a free transfer.
“An agreement has been reached between FC Barcelona and Íñigo Martínez for the player to join the Club after his contract with Athletic Club ended. The player is set to sign a two-year deal that ends on June 30, 2025, with the release clause set at 400 million euro.
“The Club will provide further details about Íñigo Martínez’ presentation as a new first team player in due course.”
