Barcelona star Sergi Roberto has signed a new deal with the Catalans until 2024. The Spanish midfielder’s current deal was expected to end this summer but his performance under Xavi Hernandez has earned him a new deal.
Sergi Roberto will always be remembered for his famous goal against Paris Saint-Germain in their comeback win at the Camp Nou. He is a utility player who can play across the midfield and also as a right back.
Sergi Roberto graduated from Barcelona’s academy famously known as La Masia and worked up his place to become the second captain of the club behing Sergio Busquets. He could be named the official captain of the club next season if Busquets decide to leave the club.
Barcelona released an official statement on their website to announce Sergi Roberto’s new contract.
“FC Barcelona and Sergi Roberto have reached an agreement to extend the player’s contract through to 2024. The buyout clause has been set at 400 million euros,” the club stated.
