Manchester United star Marcel Sabitzer has been ruled out of the season due to a meniscal injury. The Austrian midfielder missed United’s 2-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers over the weekend with a knee complaint.
Sabitzer joins Manchester United from Bayern Munich on loan but won’t be able to complete the season with the Red Devils.
Manchester United released an official statement on their website to confirm that Sabitzer has been ruled out of the season.
“Manchester United midfielder Marcel Sabitzer has suffered a meniscal injury which will, unfortunately, rule him out for the remainder of the season,” the club confirmed.
“The Austria international, who joined on loan from Bayern Munich in January, missed the 2-0 victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, with the knee complaint, after coming off the bench in the previous game at West Ham United.
“Marcel has played an important role in the second half of our 2022/23 campaign, racking up 18 appearances and scoring three times, a cheeky backheel against Fulham in the Emirates FA Cup quarter-final and a double in the Europa League last-eight first leg clash with Sevilla.
“Everyone at the club is disappointed to lose Marcel’s services, as the Reds chase a strong finish to the season in the Premier League and FA Cup, and we are grateful for his contribution to our progress so far.”
