Manchester United striker D’Mani Mellor has decided to leave Old Trafford at the end of 2021-22 season. The English striker enjoyed his time at the club and was a regular for the United U-23 side.
Mellor made his first team debut in the Europa League tie with Astana in Kazakhstan in November, 2019 but will now look for a new team after failing to sign new contract with the Red Devils.
Manchester United released an official statement on their website to confirm Mellor’s departure from the club.
“Manchester United Under-23s striker D’Mani Mellor has confirmed he is leaving the club when his contract expires this summer,” the club stated.
“The local lad made his senior bow in the Europa League tie with Astana in Kazakhstan in November, 2019, which ensured he played in every age group from the age of nine to the first team.
“Following a loan spell with Salford City, gaining valuable league experience, he returned to lead coach Neil Wood’s group and captained the side towards the end of the season, while showing his potency and endeavour in attack.”
Mellor confirmed his departure from Manchester United on his official Instagram page.
“The end of my first chapter in football,” Mellor posted on Instagram.
“Making a debut for Man Utd is something that only a small number of people have the honour to say that they have achieved. I’ve been extremely fortunate to represent this club for over 10 years. There are so many people that I have to thank for their support along the way. Many have become my closest friends throughout my time here. I’ll always be connected with this amazing club,” said the 21-year-old.
“Now, a new chapter starts. I’m ready for that next step and I’m excited to show everyone what I can do.”
