Courtois joins Real Madrid

Real Madrid have announced the signing of Belgian shot-stopper Thibaut Courtois from Chelsea. The former Atletico Madrid goalie signed on a 6-year deal which will run until 2024.

The Spanish giants priced the 26-year old away from Chelsea in a deal worth in the region of £35m. The London club had to settle for the lower price for the goalie that only has 12 months left on his contract as they are not ready to risk the player leaving for free next season.

The 26-year-old failed to report to preseason training with Chelsea at the start of the week in a bid to force through a return to Spain after claiming recently he want to be reunited with his children who resides in the Spanish capital.

The deal also involve Mateo Kovacic going the other way on a season long loan, Chelsea were also quick to react as they replace Courtois with Kepa in a world record fee.
